Carolyn Hulst Boyer A kids ministry director Worked in hotel hospitality She was an ordained minister A school Media Specialist An English as a Second Language teacher Mom loved watching Wimbledon and the PGA tour, her Favorite golfer is Jordan Spieth. Mom also loved watching Jeopardy every night- turns out in the late 1960s she actually went to New York City and auditioned for the show- and they accepted her! However, some time later when they called her up for filming, on short notice, she had to decline the invitation as she was “very pregnant” with me. Mom LOVES queso. And gala apples. She does not like Greek yogurt, something about the texture… On planes she needed an aisle seat and a tomato juice, please. Mom’s door was always open and we constantly had different people living with us. Even if they needed to deliver a baby on my brother’s bed! i wonder what baby Buchanan is doing today…? She was a free spirit, almost part gypsy- She loved to travel, anywhere- by car, by plane, by ship and by 18 wheeler! Mom loved the Lord and she prayed for each of us every day. She probably prayed for you, too… She enjoyed sitting around the fireplace, picking out a bible verse and reading it in many different translations. She preferred classical music. She sang in every choir she could find. She especially loved the old hymns and anything with a 4 part harmony and she would sing every single part! 2 Corinthians 4:18 says: “For the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are eternal.” In the words of one of Mom’s favorite pastors- Dr David Jeremiah, “This world is a very temporary parentheses in the eternal plan of God. Christians’ citizenship is heavenly, not earthly. While on earth, the way we keep our eyes focused on heaven is to live in the presence of God through continual worship and communion with Him.” This is how Mom lived. And finally… Proverbs 31:25 She is clothed in strength & dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.
