In Loving Memory of James Francis "Jim" Morrison It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Francis Morrison known to many as Jim, who left us peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Sarasota, FL, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on October 7, 1925, in Lowell, MA, to George and Ernestine Morrison. Jim was one of 12 siblings, survived by one remaining sibling. His wisdom, kindness, and humor will be profoundly missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his unwavering support and love. His life was marked by a deep love for his family, his community, and the simple joys of life. He spent his later years in Venice, FL, where he was a beloved resident. Jim lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. A proud World War II Veteran, Jim served his country with honor in both the Merchant Marines and the United States Army. His commitment to protecting and supporting his country during one of its most challenging times exemplified his loyalty, courage, and resilience. His legacy of service will continue to inspire those who knew him. Jim was proud to have worked since the young age of eight. Throughout his life, he took pride in hard work and always contributed to those around him. As a young man, he worked in a shoe factory in Lowell, MA, and later pursued a career as a painter, where he demonstrated meticulous skill and craftsmanship. These experiences shaped his enduring work ethic and his deep respect for honest labor. In addition to his military and work career, Jim dedicated much of his life to caring for others as a nurse. With compassion and a deep sense of empathy, he cared for the sick and elderly, offering comfort and kindness to those in need. His nurturing spirit touched many lives, and his commitment to the well-being of others was a true reflection of his generous heart. Jim’s service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Sarasota National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with military honors. As we remember Jim, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, service, and devotion to family, country, and the care of others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
