Jean Marie Adams

Jean Marie Adams, 88, passed with peace and grace on July 16, 2023, with her family by her side in Sarasota, Florida. She was born in Michigan on June 14, 1935, flag day, which she loved, to mother Mary Rebecca Smith and father Peter John Walesky. She grew up in Swartz Creek, Michigan, and lived there on and off during her adult life. She attended and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Baker College in secretarial/administrative work. While stationed with her husband, Jr., she taught English to the local children during his military service in Germany. Once they returned to the States, she was the head typesetter for General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. She worked at Bradenton Academy doing administerial work when they moved to Bradenton, Florida. She and Emmett Jr. Adams had been married for 59 years at the time of his passing. She loved raising her children and being a wife to her husband, Jr, and had many hobbies. She was the President's wife of the Flintstones 4-wheel drive club, a business owner of The Typerighters of Owosso, liked to knit and crochet, and enjoyed sewing quilts, outfits and spending time with her granddaughters. She was an organist for many family and friends' weddings and played piano at whim. She enjoyed playing many games, such as Yahtzee, Euchre, solitaire, bingo, etc. She was also a representative for South Eastern guide dogs. She was a born-again Christian and a member of the Baptist Church in Clio, Michigan. Jean was kind, loving and always gave more than she had. She had a feisty personality, was scared of her own shadow, and drove like a racecar driver; she fiercely loved her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed a good nap, but if you caught her sleeping, no, she wasn't. She was Preceded in death by her husband, Jr., her son William Leonard Adams, sister Beverly Ann Walesky, and brother Roger Dean Walesky. Surviving Relatives are her daughter Cathy Adams Atkins, granddaughter Barbi Gritt, husband Jeremy Gritt, granddaughter Christina Talley and husband Drew Talley, and great-granddaughters Sophie, Emmaline, and Eloise. Memorial Service will be held at Toale Brothers Funeral in Sarasota, Florida, on July 21, 2023. Open Casket viewing and memorial video at 1 pm and Memorial Service at 2 pm. Private interment at Sarasota National Cemetery.
