Louise Margaret Halliday (Sylvester)

Louise Margaret Halliday (Sylvester) went home to our Lord on November 30, 2022. She was 92 years old. Louise was born and raised in Newport, RI. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Benjamin Halliday, Jr., and traveled across the United States via the U.S. Air Force. They were stationed in several different states over his 20 year career. Louise and Bob moved to Sarasota, Florida in July of 1971. Louise is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Margaret, her husband, Bob (2009), 2 grandsons, Caleb (2006), Tony (2019), and two granddaughters, Adele (2012) and Rachel (2015). Louise has one missing grandson, Richard. Richard has been missing since July 2020, from his barrack’s room while on active duty in the United States Army, Ft. Bliss, EL Paso, Texas. Louise is survived by two sisters: Effie McCarthy (Waterford, CT) and Cathey Mao (Fall River, MA), many nieces and nephews, 4 children: Robert, III (Patricia) Greer, SC, Sheryl, Sarasota, FL, David (Mary) Largo, FL, and Dawn Jeffersonville, IN, 13 grandchildren: Nicole (Greg), Joseph (Betsy), Sean (Megan), Amy (Steve), Maggie, Sara (Casey), Katie, Hannah (James), Allison (Sam), Robert IV (Faith) and Richard, 19 great grandchildren: Lea, Tulum, Alexa, Benjamin, Henry, Logan, Esher, Shea, Zeke, Theo, Robert V, Connor, James, Noelle, Stephen, Samuel, Peter, Molly, and Griffin. Louise was an amazing cook, seamstress, and gardener. She volunteered for years in the Sarasota County Schools. She was a founding member of the Church of the Nativity, Sarasota. FL. Louise and Bob along with 2 other couples started Nativity in another church’s facility. Louise loved music - hymns, opera, musicals, Sinatra, Streisand, BeeGees, to name a few. She was an original member of the Nativity choir. She was also head of its Altar Guild, and served as its ECW President. She had a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. Above all she loved God, and her family. Services are on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 am. The address is: Church of the Nativity, 5900 Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota, Florida, 34243. Interment of Ashes to follow the service in the Church’s Memorial Garden. No flowers, please.
