Marian L.B.B. Woodson

Marian Lecone Bernadette Brock Woodson was an only child born to the late James and Louise Brock on September 12, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She ascended to heaven on Thursday, November 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her daughter, DeLor Renee Days, her mother Louise B. Brock, her father James Brock and the love of her life Louis H. Simons. Educated in the Philadelphia School District and graduated from Overbrook High School. She attended James Martin Nursing School and graduated as a License General Practical Nurse (LGPN). Marian worked at Bryn Mawr hospital, and was a private duty nurse for various prominent Main Line families caring for terminally ill patients. She was also a professional tailor, seamstress and masseuse. Marian married Leroy Vanliere Woodson in April 1956 and from this union they had seven children Dannajeselle, Kevin, DeLor, Chriseverick, Attion Michael, Lovisa, and Maria. She was the mother of all mothers. Listening but not judging, encouraging but never overshadowing. She let us be us with a little Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but never a I told you so. In 1978, Marian met the love of her life Louis H. Simons which she lovingly called Lou. They shared a beautiful life and home in Broomall, Pennsylvania. He was a Mason and she was in the Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic appendant body. They enjoyed many years of love, happiness and traveling before his passing in March 1993. They were inseparable and was the dynamic duo of grandparents enriching the lives of their children and grandchildren, expressing the importance of experiencing all life had to offer. Marian was a spiritual person and a member of Our Mother of Good Counsel she volunteered in the church’s consignment shop and sang in the choir. Marian moved to Sun City Center, Florida from Broomall, Pennsylvania in August 2003 where she became a member of Prince of Peace Church and joined the choir. As an active member in the community she volunteered for the Sun City Center Emergency Squad and was Treasurer of the Huntington Greens Drive Association. Marian moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2015 to be closer to her son, Chriseverick and daughter in-law Deborah whom she spent all holidays with. Marian is remembered for her resilience, gracefulness, sense of humor, style and love of gardening sharing her vegetables from her own garden with family and friends. She had an appreciation of music, a love for the opera and sang every song whether, hip hop, rap or pop in her operatic voice. Her love for animals led her to adopt rescued disabled pets. She was gentle, caring, a smile that lit up any room and funny with a wicked sense of humor. Her strong, magnetic and embracing personality made everyone feel loved and welcomed. Her legacy is one of wisdom, strength and pride which she instilled in her family of three generations. Mommy, Grandmom, Big Mom, Marian will forever live on in the lives of everyone she touched. Marian is survived by her children Dannajeselle Woodson, Kevin Woodson (Sony), Chriseverick Woodson (Deborah) Attion Michael Woodson (Michelle), Lovisa Woodson (Ernest Collins Jr.) and Maria Woodson (LaSalle Miller). Her daughter in-laws Brenda Spence (Tyrone Spence) and Rhonda Woodson. Her grandchildren Christopher, Darryl (Roseanna), Willie (Krista), Russell, Kevin (Joy), Ollie (Ieshia), Rodney (Angela), Lovisa II, Thomas, Ivan (Christina-Ante), DeLor, Brittany (Vincent), Rhonda, Mercedes, Bryana, Gabriel, Theresa (Phuong) and Chelsea. Her great-grandchildren Willie Jr., Kristopher, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ollie Jr., Shaun, Londyn, Landon, Russell, Morgan, Nyrel, Jacob, Logan, Lohan, Mason, Aston, Lance, Carter, Natale, Anthony, Tyler, Zuri, Bella, Milo, Zendaya, Adriana, Gabriella and a host of cousins and friends.
