Alberto R. Orsini January 14, 1934 – October 10, 2016 The heavens shine brighter tonight as Alberto R. Orsini, a proud native of The Bronx, NY,died peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2016. Alberto was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Antoinette Orsini, and brother-in-law Joseph Cartelli. Alberto arrived in Sarasota from The City By the Bay, San Francisco, in 2000 with his surviving and devoted partner, John M Lucas. Alberto is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Annie (Gabriel) Fioravanti, Frank (Adele) Orsini, Mary Cartelli and Phyllis (Alphonse) Moccia. Cherished friend and uncle to many nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews, uncle "Albie" will be missed beyond description. A veteran of the US Army, Alberto proudly graduated from The Cooper Union School of Architecture in New York, NY. He spent the majority of his professional career magnificently restoring Brownstone and Victorian homes in Brooklyn Heights, Sausalito and San Francisco. Alberto's Star Wash Laundromat in San Francisco became a destination shop where the most routine of chores became an "event". From the mundane to the inspired, Alberto's heartfelt and poetic design for the new World Trade Center was featured on the front page of The New York Times in 2002. Alberto was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He was one-of-a-kind; embracing everything with infectious abandon and joyous energy. The very definition of the Renaissance man, Alberto's unending generosity spilled forth on the dance floor of life and in the luminous and color saturated water colors he shared with family and friends. To honor Alberto, raise a Dewar's with a twist. He will ensure it is 5:00 o'clock and await your "Cin, Cin". Sempre direto, caro mio. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Visitation, Paramus, NJ on October 29, 2016, 11:00 AM. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, November 12, 2016 at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5615 Midnight Pass Road, Sarasota, FL 34242.
