Dr. Alfredo Prieto

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Dr. Alfredo Prieto announces his passing on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He passed away peacefully in Sarasota, Florida, with his beloved wife at his side. He was born in Manizales, Colombia on January 4, 1940. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Prieto, his sons, Dan (Cheryl) and David (Bonnie) Prieto, his grandchildren, Abigail and Adelina Prieto, Daniel Prieto, and Ty Page. He is also survived by his sisters in Colombia, Maria Cristina, Beatriz, Liliana, and Lina Maria, as well as his many friends and extended Family. Alfredo came to the United States in 1966 to do his residency in OB-GYN at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He proudly served as a major in the U.S Army during Viet Nam and was awarded two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in combat. He deeply loved this country and carried a patriot’s heart in everything he did. Al was a man of deep passions-he cherished his family, especially his wife and twin boys. He loved music and never met a dog he didn’t instantly befriend. His warm heart and generous spirit were felt by everyone who knew him, whether through a shared story, a shared song, or a quiet round of golf—his favorite pastime. He spent over 20 years in the rolling hills of West Virginia building a life, raising a family, caring for his patients, and sharing laughter. Later, he retired to Sarasota, Florida, where he enjoyed his golden years surrounded by sunshine, music, and the companionship of those he loved most. Al shared a special bond with his brother, Jorge-a relationship that brought him immense joy and strength throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, generosity, and laughter. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Incarnation on Saturday, July 19th at 10 a.m. in Sarasota, Florida. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help someone in need. Hold your family a little closer, walk your dog a little longer, sing your favorite song out loud, or simply enjoy a good round of golf and think of him. Es con mucho dolor qué la familia del DR. Alfredo Prieto anuncian su partida el Miercoles 7 de Mayo del 2025. Al fallecio tranquiló alado de su amada esposa, Maureen. El nacio en Manizales , Colombia un 4 de Enero del 1940. Le sobrevive su esposa, Maureen Prieto, sus dos hijos Dan (Cheryl) y Dave (Bonnie) Prieto, sus nietos Abigail, Adelina Prieto, Daniel Prieto y Ty Page. También le sobreviven sus hermanas en Colombia, Maria Cristina, Beatriz, Liliana, y Lina Maria cómo también sus amigos y su familia lejana. Alfredo vino a los Estados Unidos en el año 1966 a Atlanta, a completer su residencia en Encologia en la Universidad Emory. El sirvió con orgullo cómo Mayor en la U.S Army durante Viet Nam y fue premiado con dos estrellas de Broze por su servició admirable. El señor amó a su país profúndamente y siempre llevaba ese amor en todo lo que hacía. Al era un hombre con dedicaciones el amaba su familia, especialmente a su querida esposa y a sus dos hijos gemelos. El amaba la musica y nunca conoció un perro que no fuese su amigo. Su corazón generoso y espíritu todos a su al rededor lo sentían, ya fuera en una historía, o en una ronda de golf su pasa tiempo favorito. El señor vivió más de 20 años en las hermosas montañas de West Virginia construyendo su vida, una familia y cuidando de sus pacientes, siempre con una sonrisa. Después, se retiró a Sarasota, Florida, dónde disfrutó de sus años de oró rodeado del sol, música, y la compañía de sus queridos. Al compartía una conexión con su hermanó, Jorge- una relación qué le traía una alegria inmensa y fuerzas durante su vida. Al a dejado un legado de amor, lealtad, generosidad, y risas. Su memoria por siempre vivirá en los corazónes de toda su familia, amigos, y todas las vidas qué el toco. Una misa en su honor va a tomar lugar en Church of Incarnation el Sábado, 19 de Julio a las 10 a.m. en Sarasota, Florida. Todos quien lo conocieron estan invitados a honrar su vida. En un camino de flores, la familia les pide ayudar alguien con necesidades. No olviden abrazar a su familia, caminar a su perro un ratico mas, canten su canción favorita a todo volumen, o simplemente vallan y jueguen una ronda de golf pensando en el.
