David Jon Yarletts

David Jon Yarletts, age 69, of Sarasota, Florida passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022. He was born February 1, 1953 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late James and Hazel (Johnson) Yarletts. David graduated from Edgewood High School in 1971 and Kent State University in 1975, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. Throughout a long and distinguished career in community services, he worked in varied roles including originally as a Music teacher at John Sells Middle School (Dublin, Ohio) and as a Certified Financial Planner in Sarasota, Florida. Additionally, David taught preparatory classes for the Certified Financial Planner examination. He was a passionate volunteer with numerous service organizations. Over the years, he served on 16 non-profit boards of directors, including but not limited to: Girls, Inc. of Sarasota County, American Cancer Society, Easter Seals and All Children's Hospital Advisory Board. Recently he was involved with the Child Protection Center's Capital Campaign and other public institutions. David was the soul and center of his extended family; the kindest, smartest, and most inspiring individual possible; a loving and entertaining uncle to his many nieces and nephews; and a selfless and generous friend to extraordinary communities of people in Sarasota and beyond. David ran his financial business like a concierge service for his clients helping them with many aspects of their personal lives. He loved his clients and experienced that love being returned by them in kind. David is survived by his beloved brothers, Thomas (Jean) Yarletts and Alan (Jaclyn) Yarletts (both of Upper Arlington, Ohio); nieces Kirsten (Michael) Schaefer (Upper Arlington), Erika (Ryan) Pircio (Worthington), Alicia (Patrick Williams) Yarletts (Prospect, Kentucky); nephews Cody (Emily) Yarletts (Upper Arlington), Brady Yarletts (Littleton, Colorado); grand-nieces, Samantha, Jaclyn, Emma, Maja, Maryn, Della, and grand-nephews, Bo, Merrick, Ethan. He is also survived by his fiancée, Regina Koda, and her daughters, Savina and Sofia Koda, and many wonderful extended family members and close friends. Donations can be made in his memory to any of the charities above or by volunteering your time to a charity of your choosing. A Celebration of Life for David will be held on a future date.
