Dorothy Lapp Evans

Dorothy Lapp Evans, 92, of Williamsville, NY peacefully passed away Sunday, October 30th, 2022, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in her home on September 20th, 1930, the daughter of Marguerite Harrington Lapp and Lester Nice Lapp. Dory was a loving and compassionate person who always put her family first. She had the most beautiful energy that would make anyone feel like family. Dory was always fashionable and prepared, her purse full of cough drops, pink lipstick, hand sanitizer and heart shaped sunglasses. A faithful Christian, she knew “Who was in charge.” Dory grew up in Williamsville, NY and spent her summers with wonderful friends and family on the shore of Lake Erie at Hanford Bay. Dory was a Registered Nurse and completed one year at the University of Michigan towards her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing then completed her studies at the University of Buffalo where she met her husband, Dr. Robert H. Evans. She worked in his orthodontic office in Williamsville, NY. They built a beautiful family with the birth of their children: Robert L. Evans and Nancy M.E. Hargrave, both of which she was so proud of. After retirement, she spent summers at Hanford Bay, NY and winters at The Westchester on Longboat Key, FL. A gracious host, she would always have baked good waiting for family and friends. In 2003, Dory and her husband moved to Plymouth Harbor in Saratoga, FL. She became an active member of the Plymouth Harbor community, making many friends and volunteering in the Fund Shop for nearly 20 years. She was also a faithful member of the St. Armand’s Key Lutheran Church for over 40 years. Dory was at her happiest swimming in Lake Erie, the Gulf of Mexico and any pool that would keep her hair dry. She was so proud of the various achievements of her family and always made a point to be present at every graduation, sports event and grandparent day. She loved her family unconditionally, and taught them to do the same. She was our matriarch and her saying of “families are fun” will resonate in her honor for generations to come. Dorothy Lapp Evans was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her son: Dr. Robert & Cheryl Evans; siblings: Dr. Richard & Jessica Lapp, Leslie Brackett & Doug Brackett; son in law: David Hargrave; Grandchildren: Amy & Joseph Leo; Drs. Elizabeth & William D’Angelo, Sarah & Simon Cox, Dr. Anne Evans & SgtMg Chris Thomas, Drs. Erin & Grant Oakley, Emily, NP & Andrew Paszko, PA and her 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Robert H. Evans, her daughter Nancy M.E. Hargrave and her grandchild Abigail Evans.
