Edward "Eddie" Manuel Sotomayor, Jr.

Edward (Eddie) Sotomayor Jr., 34 years old, of Sarasota, FL, passed away tragically, on June 12, 2016. Eddie worked as a national brand manager for a travel agency serving the gay community. Eddie was charming and charismatic; he had sparkling green eyes and a quick wit. He enjoyed traveling around the world, meeting different people. He had a knack for orchids, a love he shared with his late grandmother "Tita." Eddie was adored by many and had connections all over the world. He created bonds and friendships that lasted a lifetime. With each relationship, he created a link that was as unique as the individual. He had an instant charisma people wanted to be around. He was a lovely, positive soul who could sit with you calmly and quietly in a moment of stress and in the next moment lighten the mood with his silly antics. Eddie was loved. We are comforted in knowing that he achieved many things he had always hoped for; a great job that afforded him the ability to travel around the world, family and friends who adored him and a caring, committed partner, Luis Rojas. The night Eddie was taken, his sister texted him at around 9:50 PM and told him she read about a phone app. that stored all your personal health information for emergencies. She told him she wanted him to fill it all out for her just in case. His response was, "It's been done." Tragically, that same night, we lost Eddie to an act of senseless violence. He is survived by his parents Sandra Wade and Edward Manuel Sotomayor, Sr., his sister, Kimberly Sotomayor (Jackson), her Husband Jamie Jackson, Grandfather, Jesus Sotomayor. Father's family members include, Edgar and Dalynn Sotomayor, Adaline Sotomayor (Williams), Larry Sotomayor, Rudy Martinez and Marc Pease, Justin and Melanie Sotomayor, Danielle (Sotomayor) and Edward Buddin, Autumn (Sotomayor) Laperriere, James Sotomayor. Mother's family members include: Patricia (Wade) and Robert Miller; Barbara (Wade) and Edward Caramanico; Shelly (Wade) Campbell; William Campbell; Harold and Diane Wade Jr.; Adam, Danielle and Madelyn Miller; Joshua Miller; Jessica, Greg and Lakota Bennett; Krystal and Jax Murphy, Wade Campbell; Jennifer, Campbell and Andie Graney; Kendall and Heather Wade; Andrew and Christine Wade; Daniel and Laura Wade; Lorraine (Wade) and Juan Leon. Angels carrying him home are: Harold and Joy Wade Sr., Irene (Tita) Sotomayor, Donna Wade, Kevin Sullivan, B.J. Williams, Bill Terry. We have come to understand that many more friends and others he considered loved ones from the LGBT community will greatly mourn his loss as well.
