Harmon Lewis Kirson

Born January 31, 1937, and passing peacefully on August 23, 2026, Harmon Lewis Kirson lived a remarkable life defined by curiosity, accomplishment, friendship, family, and a love of experiencing all that life had to offer. Raised in South Philadelphia at 7400 4th Street, he attended Southern High School and went on to graduate from Drexel University with a degree in chemical engineering. During his college years, he also worked at the Philadelphia Enquirer, beginning a career marked by energy, adaptability, and an eagerness to explore new opportunities. He spent 30 years with IBM, beginning in sales and moving through a variety of positions, including airline marketing. His career took him from Philadelphia to Manhattan, White Plains, Armonk, New York, Paris, France, as well as London, England. After three decades with IBM, he retired at the age of 57. His love of travel and adventure extended well beyond his professional life. In 1996, he moved to Siesta Key, Florida, where he embraced the Florida lifestyle and made lasting friendships. In 2007, he moved to the Cascades in Florida, where he continued to enjoy an active and fulfilling life. He was an avid automobile enthusiast, a cigar smoker and collector, and was always happy to share a good cigar with those around him. He loved to travel, particularly cruises, and enjoyed fine restaurants and wine tastings. He also had a deep appreciation for the arts and culture. He supported and enjoyed the Sarasota Orchestra, Florida Studio Theatre, and Black Theatre, always eager to experience music, performance, and the arts in his community. Above all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his wife Beverly Goodman Kirson, married 68 years; his daughters, Amy Kirson-Rea Above all, he cherished his family. His life was long, full, and wonderfully lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
