Janice B. (Bickley) Lorenz

Janice B (Bickley) Lorenz 78, of Sarasota, Florida died 7/26/2024. Janice was born September 11, 1945 and attended high school in Anderson Indiana. She was the founder and owner of residential real estate appraisal company for 30 plus years and served as the President of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. Attending her children and grandchildren’s events, whether it be Grandparent’s Tea, sports events, or musical performances. No distance was too far for her, simply a plane ride away. Always the organizer and volunteer, her children remember her serving as room mother, having established a PTO for the middle school and serving as president, introducing the ‘Just Say No’ program to the school district, and hosting and placing foreign exchange students in mid Indiana. She enjoyed hosting and attending social events and playing Mahjong, cards, and dominos with friends and family. Traveling was very important with her favorites being the beauty of Australia and New Zealand and the soups of Portugal. She was always happy to get home to her “purr-baby” Misha, the most loved cat in the world. Explaining why she went on so many cruises each year, she would say “The cruises just book themselves.” Janice was preceded in death by her mother Jane O Gillespie, and brother Robert Wayne Gillespie. She is survived by her husband Leslie J Lorenz; three children: Michele (Bill) Clark of Wildwood, MO, Zane (Heather) Schott of Jacksonville, FL, Ken (Kimberly) Schott of Bristol, TN; a brother: Ken (Maliza) Bickley of Charleston, NC; Grandchildren: Jeremy Beck, Shaun Beck, Lindsay Sale, Sidney Schott, Lyzette Schott, Dustin Schott, Shyanne Metrie, Jordan Clark, and Zachary Clark. Great-grandchildren: Gavin, Owen, Leo, and, Remy. Niece: Shellavee Hari; Exchange Student daughters: Takako Willden and Izumi Huget and many other family and friends. Viewing will be held on Tuesday July 30th 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Toale Brothers Funeral Home 40 North Orange Ave Sarasota, FL 34236. Funeral Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church 7750 Beneva Road Sarasota, FL 34238 on Wednesday July 31st at 10:00 am with brunch to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Sarasota County.
