Kathleen Marie Donohue

Kathleen M. Donohue (nee Quinlan) of Sarasota, formerly of Havertown, PA, joined her many family members and friends in Heaven on June 2, 2018. Kathleen was the oldest of four daughters born to Catherine and James Quinlan in Bryn Mawr, PA. She considered her role as oldest sister a most serious one - loving, enjoying and supporting her sisters throughout her life. Kathleen graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia and began working for the PA Railroad, a position and experience she found delightful. Kathleen married Henry D. Donohue on November 27, 1947 and joyously began her journey of quintessential homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, catering to the needs of family and friends and just simply anyone who presented in need.Kathleen was a lifelong Yankees fan and a matchless Villanova basketball fan. While child rearing, she devoted countless hours to Villanova fundraising projects, cooking fabulous meals, being a Scout Mother and Little League volunteer and the typist of many a term paper. An opportunity to join the travel and insurance businesses arose when her children were grown and Kathleen thrived at these new adventures and gained life long friends in the process.Kathleen is predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sisters, three nephews, two nieces and her cherished grandson, John H. Lamensdorf. She is survived by her son, Kevin D. Donohue (Jacqueline), her daughter, Kathy D. Lamensdorf (Michael) and her spectacularly devoted granddaughter, Jennie K. Lamensdorf. She is also survived by a sister, Marguerite Nunan, grandchildren Brooke Coyle and Kevin and Bryan Donohue, five great grandchildren, four nieces and five nephews. A special acknowledgement to Betty Kenney for her decades long friendship with Kathleen, her "second daughter" Nancy Spencer, her courageous nephew, Father Thomas Wilhelm and her devoted caregivers, Zuzanna and Pat. Kathleen's steadfast faith, understanding of the importance of a thank you and the ability to forgive were her greatest lessons. Remembrance will be private. As Khalil Gibran said so beautifully, " Oh heart, if one should say to you that the soul perishes like the body, answer that the flower withers but the seed remains."
