Laura Catherine Healy Wells, 75, of Tampa, Florida has passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017. Laura "Kitty" is predeceased by her devoted husband of 38 years, Frederick Ellison Wells, (Tampa, Florida) and brother, Michael Timothy Healy, (Arlington, Virginia). She was the loving mother of 3 children, Beloved Ryan Frederick Wells, (Tampa, Florida), and Adelaide Duncan Morgan, (Bristow, Virginia), Michael (Karen) Leighton Duncan Jr.(Sarasota Florida), children of Michael L. Duncan, Sr. (Sarasota, Florida). She is also survived by her 8 cherished grandchildren; Daniel B. Morgan (Columbus, Ohio), Allison J. Morgan, ( Sarasota, Florida), Melissa A. Morgan, (Bristow, Virginia), Matthew H. Morgan (Bristow, Virginia), John M. Duncan, (Columbus, Georgia), Madison J. Duncan ( Sarasota, Florida), Aiden R. Wells, (Tampa, Florida) , John of (Tampa, Florida) and 1 great-granddaughter , Virginia Adelaide Lanham (Sarasota, Florida). Laura "Kitty" was born in Cumberland Maryland on November 6, 1941, the daughter of the late Sergeant James Paul Healy and Adelaide Virginia Healy. She graduated from Catholic grade school in New York City, and later located with her family to Arlington Virginia, where she attended Wakefield High School and met former spouse Michael L. Duncan Sr. and married in 1960. Residing in Arlington, Virginia for many years following high school graduation, Kitty began what had transpired into a lifetime of dedicated public service. 30 years until her retirement, Kitty served as an Administrative Secretary to the late John C. Stennis of Mississippi in the United States Senate, federal government office, Washington, D.C. and also served on the United States House of Representatives Joint Committee on Taxation. She was an intelligent, and valued member of the civil service system on Capital Hill. Kitty retires to Tampa, Florida in 1992 with son, Ryan and husband, Frederick, "Red", as a self- sacrificing mother and wife; and continued her involvement promoting the welfare of others, while employed with the American Red Cross and LifePath Hospice in Tampa. Kitty had a beautiful sense of style, and could make a room glow, by transforming the ordinary to extraordinary in all that she touched. She was a fun-loving mother and wife. She loved to cook. She once established her own catering business and lovingly prepared all the wedding reception food for her eldest daughters wedding. Kitty had a passion for history and researching her Irish heritage. She was a faithful follower of Christ; and member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, in South Tampa. Kitty was a true patriot, supporting her country and its interests as an active charter member of the National World War ll Memorial. Kitty is especially remembered for her unconditional love, perseverance, grace and kindness that will continue to nourish the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on: Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at 9:30 AM, Incarnation Catholic Church, 2901 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, Florida 34239. Burial: Inurnment in the church Memorial Garden following the memorial service at Incarnation Catholic Church. Reception of friends and relatives are welcomed in church hall following inurnment.
