Dr. Lynn Raymond Fassy

Dr. Lynn Raymond Fassy, 65, passed away in Sarasota, FL on April 8, 2025. Lynn was the pre-eminent pain specialist in Sarasota for many years and his patients appreciated his compassion toward them. In his professional, that is a rare trait. He practiced in Sarasota from 1993 to 2015, when he had to retire due to severe back and neck pain following his own back fusions. Retiring was so difficult for him because he loved his work and, especially, helping people. Lynn was the son of Frank Raymond Fassy, who preceded him in death, and Theresa Piazza Fassy, of New Orleans, LA. He came from "nothing," as Lynn used to say, but his grandmother ruled him with an iron fist and stressed the importance of education. He was determined to become successful, and he achieved it, with a lot of bumps along the way. Dr. Fassy graduated with honors from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1989, where he earned his LA medical license. Next was his internship at UT Houston in anesthesiology until 1993, after which he spent 6 months at Baylor University in TX for his pain management internship and earned his TX medical license. He then moved to Sarasota, FL and earned his FL medical license in 1993, when he began to practice medicine. Lynn enduring many heartbreaks throughout his childhood and he overcame every obstacle. He was very open and honest about his upbringing, and he called it "therapeutic" to discuss where he came from to help others in the same situation. He was a testament to anyone who was willing to work hard to achieve their dreams. He was RESILIENT. In fact, Lynn was writing a book about his life and had settled on that title: Resilient. Lynn loved his Porsches! He always had at least one, and usually multiple Porsche coupes or convertibles. He loved to drive - and drive FAST! Anyone who rode with Lynn needed to strap in with a seat belt and hold on for the ride! Naturally, all of his vehicles were equipped to the max with the top-of-the-line tech equipment to help him keep safe and secure on the road. Lynn built his dream home on the Gulf on Siesta Key in 1997, and a second one in 2000 across the street on the Bay, where he lived a fabulous life until October 2024. Unfortunately, like so many others in Florida, when Hurricanes Helene and Milton turned their dual paths on Siesta Key and Sarasota, his home was hit very hard. In fact, 2 of his beloved Porsches ended up in his pool, much to Lynn's chagrin. Lynn leaves behind a son, Christian Lynn Fassy, of Celebration, FL. Lynn's, mother, Theresa Piazza Fassy, and a brother Frank Fassy, both of New Orleans, LA, also survive Lynn. Christian always made Lynn so proud, and Lynn loved Christian very much. Lynn felt his life was complete when his son, Christian, entered this world. Lynn always said Christian was a carbon copy of him! Christian misses his Dad with all his heart. The love of Lynn's life was his girl, Sheba. Sheba, his black Labrador Retriever, is almost 3 years old and he spoiled her endlessly. Sheba is so lovable and worshipped Lynn, her Daddy, and she is going to miss him terribly, but she will be "adopted" by Christian and will live with him, his girlfriend, Sam, and their own furbaby, and Sheba's good friend, Finn. Lynn also leaves behind good friends who have "stuck with him," as Lynn liked to say, over the many years of work and personal life. Ros, Pat and Mary have always stayed close to him, as has his friend, Marie and her sons. He will be missed by all who knew him. Nikki Stewart was Lynn's "sister," as he called her, and was his long-term financial manager, business manager and best friend. Nikki and her husband, Ken, Lynn's "brother," as Lynn called him, have known Lynn for over 30 years, and were always there for support for him throughout the time of their friendship. Both Nikki and Ken feel a very large void in their lives without Lynn in it and always will. A graveside service for Lynn will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Palms Memorial Park at 170 Honore Avenue in Sarasota, FL.
