Margaret Rose Conley Villela

Margaret Rose 'Peggy' Conley Villela passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, in Sarasota. Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Kind, quick-witted and thoughtful, Peggy loved her family deeply and dedicated herself to raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchild. She graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College) and taught in the New Bedford, MA public schools. As a former teacher, she instilled in her children the value of education, working hard and excelling at what you love. In her years in Massachusetts then Florida, Peggy cultivated a variety of interests: tennis, backyard tomato growing, family genealogy, graphic design, duplicate bridge, travel in the US and Europe, historical fiction, boating on Buzzards Bay and the Gulf Coast, discussing politics, and solving any crossword puzzle, sudoku or wordle that came her way. But what inspired her the most was the stock market --studying corporate reports, listening to seasoned investors, and investing wisely . . and that she did. Her happiest moments were spent with family: sharing a holiday meal, swimming at the pool, playing games or the piano with the grandkids, enjoying her preferred lunch of a grouper sandwich, or sipping on afternoon cocktails. Her children and grandchildren brought her joy and laughter. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Ruy Santos Villela; her daughter, Caroline Villela and husband Barry Weisblatt; son Michael Villela and wife Kelley Gardiner Villela; son John Villela and wife Jennifer Clemons Villela -all of Sarasota. Peggy leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Caitlin Villela of Greenville, SC; Erin Villela (and her son Declan) of Tampa; Owen Villela and wife Olivia of Pineville, NC; Rose Villela of San Diego; Macy Villela of Boston; Sophia Villela of Boston; and Zachary Weisblatt of Sarasota. She is also survived by her sister Delia Conley Flynn of Hingham, MA. "Peggy, Mom, Gram, GG" is forever in their hearts. A ceremony will take place at Toale Brothers Chapel, 40 N. Orange Ave at 11:00am on August 4. Peggy will be interred at a later date at Sarasota Memorial Park near her beloved parents Eugene Patrick Conley and Helen O'Gara Conley and aunts Rose and Agnes Conley.
