Stephen J. Goula

Stephen J Goula (85) of Venice, FL passed away on Tuesday July 12, 2022. Originally from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late Alexander Goula and Mary “Stockwell” Goula. He is survived by his sister Marylou de Dianous (late Dr. Noel de Dianous), brother Joseph Goula (Cynthia), sister Carol Tedesco (late Alfred Tedesco) and brother Alec Goula(Peggy). He graduated from St. Raphael’s Academy in 1955 and from there went on to work for Pratt Whitney Aircraft in West Hartford, Ct and served as a member of the Army Reserves. He later was co-owner of Atlantic Motor Express Trucking Co., with his brother Joe. He finished his career as a Teamster working for Smith’s General Trucking where he retired from working at the age of 62. Steve was the beloved husband of Rita “Vigneau” Goula for over 39 years. They share 4 children; Stephen M Goula (Stefanie), Rhonda Goula, Laurene Kirk and Tina Gosselin. He was a beloved grandfather that was adored by his 10 grandchildren. Joshua Hornoff, Zachary Hornoff, Stephen “Jarrod” Goula (Ashley), Benjamin Goula (Tram), Rebecca Ganey (Jack), Jacob Hornoff, Rachel Bailey (Lewis), Hannah Goula, Nathan Kirk (Tonya) and Brandon Kirk (Sara). Plus, his 9 great grandchildren; Hunter, Hailey, Easton, Avery, Stevie, Aiden, Alaina, Lydia and Gwendolyn. Plus, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Steve was a devote Catholic and was a Parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of The Venice Cursillo Movement; Divine Mercy Cenacle; Share, Care & Prayer Groups. He loved going fishing and was always looking to hook Tarpon and have that one great fish story. He enjoyed listening to talk radio, reading; mostly westerns with Lonesome Dove being one of his favorites. He was news enthusiast, loved a good movie (Secretariat his favorite) and appreciated a good TV series that had an ending. He always looked forward to entertaining family & friends, playing games and watching all sports. He most enjoyed his PC Friars basketball and watching and talking anything Tom Brady! A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday July 21, 2022 at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1301 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292. In lieu of flowers we ask that charitable donation be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 1301 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292.
