Barbara Elinor "Ellie" Denton
October 9, 1931 - January 31, 2021
After living a courageous and independent life, Ellie died in her sleep at her home in Sarasota Florida on January 31, 2021. She was born on October 9th, 1931 in Somerset New York to Richard Denton and Barbara King. Ellie earned her first college degree from SUNY Canton and became a nutritionist for the West Leyden School district where she met and married Douglas “Bus” Rauscher and started her family. She later earned a teaching degree from SUNY Oswego, taught elementary school few years in Newport New York and took great pleasure in her real estate career while living in Liverpool New York. Throughout her life, Ellie excelled in the visual and performing arts. Her love of the natural world is captured with careful detail in her landscape paintings. She was an enthusiastic and talented singer in community choral groups. Ellie is pre-deceased by her brothers Richard King Denton and Earl G Denton. She is survived by her brother John “Jack” Denton (Chris), her children John Rauscher, David Rauscher (Kelly), Peter Rauscher (Carol), Douglas Rauscher (Cheryl), Barbara Rauscher (Dan), grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She dearly loved her family and life-long friends. Memorial service and burial will be planned during warmer weather at the Quaker Cemetery in Barker New York.
