    Carole Shipman Groah Ransford

    January 2, 1938 - November 22, 2017

Carole was born on January 2, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio and received her angel wings on November 22, 2017 after a short but tough battle with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Preceding her in death were here parents: Wayne Shipman and Charlene Woodard Shipman. Surviving Carole is her beloved husband, Bob Ransford, her brother, Allen Richard (Dick) Shipman, 6 children and step children: Debi Groah Bertrams (Carl), Mike Groah (Sharon), Dori Ransford Sowle (John Momson), Rob Ransford (Betsy), Amy Ransford Allen (Lloyd), Mike Ransford (Meg); 17 beloved grandchildren: April Ransford, Ashley Newman LaBrasseur (Shawn), Brittany Bertrams Hanson (Bobby), Jourdan Bertrams Timmermann (Brandon), Elizabeth Ransford Juhnke, Sarah Sowle (Brandon Reinhard), Casey Groah, Lexie Bertrams, Willis Sowle III, Liam Allen, Madeline Ransford, Evan Allen, Maisy Ransford, Bridget Allen, Grandchildren by marriage: Jeannie Keys, Alex Wilhemi, and Brad Topolewski; and 11 great grandchildren: Kerrigan LaBrasseur, Lillian Timmermann, Leighton Timmermann, Hannah Hanson, Naomi LaBrasseur, Griffin Timmermann, Cody Hanson, Madison Simmons, Roman Juhnke, Mila Ransford, and Royce Keys. Carole's life passion was her family, crafting, being on the lake, and with friends. She worked in the insurance industry, sold real estate and at Sears department store while remaining active in many volunteer groups throughout her life. She was a Girl Scout leader (Dixie), and a #1 cheerleader for every sport her children and grandchildren were involved in. She rarely missed a game, birthday party, recital, or event. She made countless priceless gifts for family that will be treasured forever. Because she was so talented with crafting, she and groups she was involved in, made gifts that were donated to those in need. Carole loved traveling; she and her husband went on 14 cruises, recently enjoyed going to the Grand Canyon, and a birthday vacation on the Mediterranean with a surprise trip to Paris. Seeing the Eiffel Tower was a lifetime dream of Carole's. She touched so many lives and her legacy will continue through her family. Carole's celebration of life will be held in two different locations to accommodate her friends and family up north as well as in Florida. We will gather on December 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Veranda Springs Clubhouse located at 9815 US Highway 301 N. Parrish, FL. On January 2, 2018 there will be a celebration at Aldersgate Methodist Church located at 4030 Douglas Rd.Toledo, OH at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Carole's name be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation. Donations can be made by mailing a check to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation MBC-FOUND, 12092 Magnolia Dr. Tampa, FL 33612, online at moffitt.org/Donate; or by calling 1(800) 456-3434 ext. 1403.
