Christy Jennings Ressler

April 21, 1970 - January 15, 2022

Christy was born April 21st, 1970, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Paula (Jennings) LeVance and Robert Michael Jennings. Christy was blessed with three half-brothers and their wives, Erik and Nicole Jennings, Lucas and Rachel Jennings and Nicholas and Sandi Jennings, all of whom she adored and cherished spending time with. Christy was the aunt to two beautiful nieces, Skylar and Katherine both of whom she loved very much. Christy is also survived by her loving mother, Paula LeVance, loving stepmother, Dianne Jennings and father Robert Michael Jennings. Christy was married to Timothy Ressler of Sarasota for over twenty-nine years. We were wed on June 27th, 1992. I loved her so. Christy graduated from Florida State, with a bachelor’s degree in history, in May of 1992. Christy worked as a librarian, legal clerk and a home maker. She was an avid reader and a collector of books, and a lover of poetry. She was a published poet. She was a lover of all art. She was a fan of live music and would travel, when able, to see live performances. She tried to include her brothers in this when she could. She was also a lover of animals and a strong proponent of animal welfare. She always put her family and friends ahead of herself. Christy fought a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma for twenty-seven years. Christy succumbed to her disease on January 15th, 2022, peacefully at home. She never lost her faith during this time. She never lost her lovely smile and brilliant demeanor. She is a loss to the world, which is now a less brilliant place. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family. Rest in peace my beloved. No more pain. The family asks that in place of flowers a donation should be made to the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
