April 28, 1932 - August 18, 2021
Claire M. Sciame, 89, of Bradenton, FL passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2021. Born April 28, 1932. She spent her first 22 years living in Cambridge, MA where she met her life partner Anthony at a roller-skating rink. They skated and danced through life together for 67 amazing years. Claire was an avid golfer, had a deep love of the performing arts, music, old western films, and she loved playing cards with her lady friends in Bradenton, FL. Those who know her often described her as sweet, entertaining, a spitfire, and strong. She was a free spirit, had no filter, and never apologized for it as she lived her life authentically. Claire loved life, everyone in her life, and she had a special relationship with animals. She was always looking for adventure and never wanted to miss out on a minute of life! Anthony and Claire married on January 2, 1954, and settled in Rockford, IL where Claire worked at Ingersoll Milling, Rockford Memorial Hospital, Family Medical Center and SwedishAmerican Hospital where she spent the last 25 years of her career and retired as the Manager of the Telecommunications Department. She thoroughly enjoyed working in the medical community and was loved and appreciated everywhere she worked. When she lived in Rockford, Claire was a lifelong member of St. Bernadette’s Church, and for the last 20+ years, she also attended Our Lady of the Angles in Bradenton, FL, her second church home. They raised three children, Paul Sciame, Paula (Martin) Dreger, and Joseph (Maria). She was Meme to two granddaughters, Nicole Dreger and Ashley Sciame, who she loved with all her heart. Claire is survived by her husband, Anthony, her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren, her brother, Joseph W. Fougere, brother-in- law’s Christopher Mullane, Vince Sciame (Linda), Carl Sciame, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sartino, their children, and many friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Priscilla Fougere, her father Joseph W. Fougere, Mother-in-Law, Mary Sciame, her dear sister Sandy Mullane, Brother in Law, Corky Sartino, and nephew John Sartino, and many long time friends. I can’t even imagine how long the reception line welcoming her into heaven must be– what a glorious sight. The world lost a bright light and heaven gained one in receiving her. Private Services will take place at a later date in Bradenton, FL.
