Cynthia Dennis Mennicke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cindy Dennis Mennicke died peacefully on July 1, 2022. Cindy was born in Jamestown, NY where she grew up along the shores of Chautauqua Lake. After graduating from Southwestern Central School in 1954, she worked for American Airlines, sparking her love of travel. Over her three plus decades in the travel industry, Cindy saw the world. Cindy married Ronald Dennis in 1962 in Buffalo, NY where they raised their son Scott. After yearly vacations to Florida, they moved to Sarasota in 1975 to escape the Buffalo winters. Cindy and Ron made new friends here and enjoyed 30 years of marriage before Ron’s death in 1992. Cindy later married Victor Mennicke. The two were together for more than 20 years, were very involved with their church, and loved to travel. Most of all, Cindy excelled at being a playmate, friend and Nana to her granddaughter Reese, who was her greatest joy. In recent years, dementia slowly robbed Cindy of her freedom and good health, but she never lost her bright smile, kindness, and happy outlook on life. Her family is relieved the fog of dementia has now lifted and she is reunited in heaven with family and friends. Cindy is survived by her son Scott Dennis, daughter-in-law Gilda Dennis and granddaughter Reese. We are grateful for the care provided by Pines of Sarasota and Tidewell Hospice. No funeral services are planned.
