It is with great sadness that we announce that Diane Louise Sandler departed this life at 77 on August 6, 2021. She had a lifelong faith in the Lord and is now at peace in His heavenly presence alongside her mother and father, Victor and Isabelle Klementowski and her brother, Dr. Kenneth Klementowski. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 54 years, Phil, as well as their three children and their families, Doug and his wife, Elise; Kelly and her husband, Jan; and Kristen. She was proudly “Nana” to her 9 grandchildren, Collin, Jack, Kate, Chase, Ryan, Alex, Cooper, Johnny and Gabe. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann and her husband Bob, as well as many other loving family and friends who all miss her dearly. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, she learned the value of grit and hard work. In her younger years, she was noted as the first coed to be accepted to the all male, Canisius College in 1961, graduating with a degree in accounting. This smart lady enjoyed a successful career in both Buffalo, NY and in Korea while there while there with Phil as he served the U.S. Army. Diane would say that her greatest life’s work and source of joy was her family. Before her struggle with Dementia began, she was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, reading to them, letting them lick the bowl of whatever delicious dessert she was making, and always taking long walks on the beach with anyone who would join her, finding shells and shark’s teeth. She never missed a chance to wish someone a happy birthday, anniversary, or anything else worth celebrating. She and Phil enjoyed traveling the world when they weren’t spending time living in either Buffalo, NY or Venice, FL. While at home, she loved to entertain family and friends over a good meal and a long game of cards. She lived her life to the fullest, enjoying every minute she could with the people that she loved. Anyone was welcome with open arms, and she loved you for who you are. She gave her life serving the needs of other, especially her family. She will be missed by all of us who had the blessing of knowing her. Our sincerest thanks go to the exceptional and compassionate care that was provided by Liana and of Venice and Venice Hospice. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday October 9, 2021, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Dr, Sarasota. Flowers are gratefully declined. Gifts can be made to the Alzheimer Society or Venice Hospice, 210 Wexford Blvd., Venice, FL 34293.
