    Dolores Marie “Dee” Wadle

    December 16, 1929 - January 24, 2022

Dolores Marie “Dee” Wadle (Westhues), aged 92, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24th, 2022 at The Glenridge Carroll Center. Her family spent her final week surrounding her with love and gratitude. Dolores was born on December 16th, 1929, in Glasgow, Missouri. She was the eldest daughter of the late John Westhues and Olive (Conran) Westhues. She married Rudi Wadle on November 3rd,1956 and celebrated 57 years of marriage before Rudi passed away in 2014. Dee grew up on a farm in Glasgow during the depression. After graduating from Glasgow High School, she worked for the Glasgow Savings Bank, then for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers first in Glasgow and then in Kansas City. She met her husband, Rudi, in Kansas City, where he attended medical school. The young couple started their family adding Jeffrey and Karen while still living in Kansas City. After Rudi completed medical school, they moved to Union, New Jersey and completed their family with Sheila and Randy. They built their home in Springfield, New Jersey in 1970 and lived there for almost 20 years. They spent a number of years as “snowbirds” traveling between New Jersey and Sarasota before moving to Florida permanently in 1992. Dee enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, arts and crafts, and was involved in her church for many years. She was proud to earn her Associates Degree from Union College in the mid- eighties. But most of all, Dee loved her family, especially the grandkids, and she devoted her life to building this legacy. She was known for her infectious smile and kind spirit. To know her was to love her. Any plane or train ride was sure to result in a new friend or two. Survivors include her adoring children: Jeffrey Wadle, Karen Lord (Scott), Sheila Nelson (Mark), and Randy Wadle (McKenzie); grandchildren: Cameron Betsch (Shelly), Jourdan Betsch, Jacob Nelson, Nicholas Lord, Samuel Lord, Matthew Lord, Noah Wadle, and the lone grand-daughter Emma Wadle; great-grandchildren: William Betsch, Charles Betsch, and Alistair Betsch; her younger brother: Kenneth Westhues (Annette); and many nieces and nephews. Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Rudi O. Wadle; older brothers: John Westhues Jr., James Westhues, and Eugene Westhues, and younger sister, Margie Boschert. Family was everything to Dee so in lieu of any donations or flowers, please share a meal with your family, hug them tight, and raise a toast to her memory.
