    Dorothy M. Cole

    June 11, 2017

    Devoted wife, mother, and teacher who passed away June 11, 2017. Survived by her daughters Helen Micchelli (Robert) and Barbara Sparks (Lawrence) and five grandchildren. She married John Arnold Cole, a U.S. Air Force veteran and W.W.II POW, and raised her family in suburban New York. Dorothy earned undergraduate and graduate degrees, was a dedicated teacher certified in three subjects, enjoyed sports and traveling, and was an active volunteer in multiple organizations. After moving to Florida in 1988, she served on the Selby Library board, was a member of the Bird Key Yacht Club, a devoted supporter of the arts, and a very active member of All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church serving selflessly in many functions of church life including the choir, vestry, and the ECW. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 11 a.m. at All Angels by the Sea, 563 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, FL 34228. Memorials may be made to All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, the Pines of Sarasota Foundation, or Selby Library.
