    James “Jim” De Buizer

    March 1, 2022

James “Jim” Marinus De Buizer, 81, of Nokomis, Florida passed away March 1, 2022 Jim was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Cornelia and Marinus De Buizer. He lived in Paterson, NJ where he attended the Technical and Vocational High School of Paterson, NJ and graduated completing the four-year course in plumbing and heating. Jim went on to study for his master’s and became the youngest Master Plumber in New Jersey in June of 1965. He then went on to establish his own business “De Buizer Plumbing and Heating” in Hawthorne NJ where he lived with his wife and two children. Jim was also a volunteer fireman in North Haledon, NJ during the 1960 riots. After an injury prevented him from heavy work, Jim moved his family to Nokomis, Florida where they often vacationed and fell in love with the area. After a few years he joined Kile’s Ace Hardware in Nokomis where he was the Plumbing Consultant. Jim stayed there for 20 plus years and made many friends in the community through his work. Jim also belonged to a few of the local service clubs. Among them, his favorite was the Fraternal Order of Eagles Nokomis Chapter, where he was an active member. He was well known and loved by many for his big heart and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years Janet De Buizer nee Levesque; his son, Dr. James Michael De Buizer of Santa Clara, CA., and his wife Amber nee Nixon; his daughter, Jill Michelle De Buizer and her fiancée Jeffrey Henderschott both of Venice and his and grandson, Ryker De Buizer. As was Jim’s wishes a celebration of life will be held at the end of the summer so all family and friends can be in attendance. Donations may be made in Jim’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
