    Joseph A. Costello, Sr.

    October 31, 1936 - February 7, 2021

Joseph Anthony Costello Sr. peacefully passed away on February 7th, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Joe is preceded by his parents Patrick Costello Sr. and Marion Costello. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, of 34 years, his brother and sister in law, Pat and Connie Costello of Cape Coral, FL and his sister and brother in law, Leanne and Henry Migliore, also of Cape Coral, FL. Joe will be fondly remembered by his six sons: Joseph Jr., Scott, Jonathan, Justin, Todd and Seth. Joe’s kindness and charm will continue on through his six grandchildren: Caitlyn, Jordan, Scott Michael, Adam, Brooke, and Austin. Joe was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on October 31, 1936. He graduated from Bergenfield High School in 1954 and was inducted into the United States Army in January 1955. Joe served in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) from 1955 to 1957. Following his years of service, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. An entrepreneur at heart, Joe started his own landscaping business in 1959 in Bergen County, NJ, followed by his own real estate company in 1969. As a young builder and realtor, Joe was eager and hardworking. He always aimed to provide the best quality and service to his clients, taking great pride in every detail of the projects he took on. He was known for his friendliness and attention to detail. His clients couldn’t help but love and respect him - Joe always left his mark. Over the course of his career, Joe built many houses and provided numerous remodeling services across New Jersey and Florida. In his free time, Joe enjoyed teaching Tae Kwon Do and participating in Boy Scouts with his sons as a Scout Master and mentor. Most of all, Joe loved competition in all activities, including golf, corn hole and especially Skee-Ball. Joe was famous for his special Christmas gravy and meatballs, enjoyed by many family and friends. He was happiest spending time with his family. Services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday 2/17/21 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 7900 Bee Ridge Rd., Sarasota, FL 34241. Burial will be at 1:30PM at Sarasota National Cemetery .
