Marie North Hazeltine Morgan- December 7, 1937 - November 26, 2017 When Mom found out that she was too weak to have the surgery she needed and in too much pain to get stronger, she turned to us, held our hands and said, "I am so blessed. I have so many people who love me and I so love my grandchildren and family." She will be greatly missed by the friends and family she has left behind. Namely her husband, Jack Morgan, her two children Gregg Morgan and Morgan (Lynn) Rivers, their beloved spouses Carol Morgan and Jason Rivers, her five grandchildren, Jack, Krista, Gregg, Lauren and Tristan, her "adopted daughter"Jill Rowoldt and her two sisters Margaret Perkins and Katherine Taylor. Born on December 7, 1937 in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Mom graduated from Carson Newman College with a degree in Music. She was a music teacher, a devoted member of the Church of the Redeemer and performed as an alto soloist with Redeemer's Canterbury Choir, Redeemer's Adult Choirs, Key Chorale and Gloria Musicae (Now Choral Artists of Sarasota). She and Jack ran and owned Florida Surgical Supply for 34 years before they retired; Jack and Marie celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year. She is at peace now. As an alto soloist, she is now an angel with the largest choir, surrounded by children singing for her Lord and Savior and continuing her mission of protecting and watching over her friends and family. The Wizard to the Tin Man once said, "a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." The Lion pleaded with her, "Stay with us, then. We all love you. We don't want you to go." And the Tin Man's resounding final words, "Now I know I have a heart, because it's breaking." Our hearts are breaking. We have lost the matriarch of our family and we will forever remember her great capacity to love and give to others. Her love lives on inside our hearts and always will. Fittingly, she waited until Sunday morning. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Royal School of Church Music Chorister Program (make check out to the Church of the Redeemer and place RSCM chorister program in the memo line). The service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer on Friday, December 1 at 11:30; reception to follow service.
