Ralph D. Scholl Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ralph D. Scholl, 90, died unexpectedly June 24, 2022 at Manatee Memorial Hospital. He was born January 20, 1932 in Liberty Mills, IN, the son of Clifford E. and Cleo (Harsh) Scholl. Ralph graduated from Warsaw High School, Class of 1949. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the destroyer USS Shields during the Korean War. He served honorably for 23 years, retiring from service at the rank of CTACS. He was a loyal member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Bradenton, the USN Cryptologic Veterans Assn (NCVA) and a member of the USS Shields (DD-596) All Eras (Korea) Assn. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball of which he lettered in High School and played on several teams in the Navy, and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Ardelle A. (Sletto); son-in law, Kevin J. Newell; and siblings, Clifford, Wildon, Doris Jean, Phyllis, Dean, Carolyn and David. He is survived by daughters, Denise D. Newell of Bradenton and Cynthia S. Pearre and husband, Douglas R. of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Melanie L. Bronner of Tampa, Kyle M. Newell of Sarasota and Sarah R. Pearre of Frederick, MD; great-grandchildren, Hayley L. Baker, Abigail R. Newell, Hunter W. Newell and Robert K. Ryan; sister, Marilyn Antoon of Greenwood, MS and many nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation at Toale Brothers Funeral Home at 912 53rd Avenue, W in Bradenton on Thursday, July 7, 2022 starting at 9:30 AM with at service to follow at 10 AM. Committal and interment will follow at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to the DAV in Bradenton at 2:30 PM to remember and celebrate Ralph’s life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the DAV at www.dav.org.
