Robert H. Smith

Robert H. Smith, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family members April 12, 2022. He was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio on August 21, 1923, to the late Hayes William Smith and Carrie (Roth) Smith. Robert married Ila Mae “Sis” (Brewer) at the Christian Church in Uhrichsville, Ohio. They raised their daughter, Lynn M. Smith, in Uhrichsville, Ohio. They then moved to Nokomis, FL in 2002. Robert served from April 1943 to March 1946, in the Airforce Air Corp Engineering division during World War II. He was employed at Hall Gloves Manufacturing for 50 years. Robert was an even keel type of man, listening to his music on RFD, enjoyed fishing, watching sporting events, playing video games and the occasional gambling excursion, but it was spending time this family and friends he enjoyed most. Robert is survived by his daughter, Lynn M. Smith and her partner Brenda S. Andy both of Port Charlotte, FL., his sister, Mary Lee (Smith) Rosenberry of Uhrichsville, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Mae Smith, his brother Arthur Smith and his wife Betty (Dunkle) Smith, his brother-in-law Jack Rosenberry, his brother-in-law Joseph (Bud) Brewer and his wife, Marjorie (Kinsey) Brewer. Family and friends may call at Toale Brothers Home, Ewing Chapel, 140 E. Venice Avenue, Venice, FL 34285 on Tuesday April 19th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota at 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 20, 2022. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home.
