    Rosemary Kelly

    August 25, 1935 - January 24, 2018

Rosemary Kelly, 82, of Venice Florida, passed away January 24, 2018. There will be a funeral service at Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church Venice, Florida 34285 Saturday February 3, 2018 at 10:00 am. Toale Brothers Ewing Funeral Home of Venice, Florida will be handling all the funeral arrangements. Rosemary was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Martin and Anna Leonard on August 25, 1935 and had 7 siblings. She graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School in Brooklyn, New York and married Charles Kelly in 1957. She loved nursing but left to bring nine beautiful children into the world. Much later, when her children had grown and left to start their adult lives, she found great joy returning to nursing and worked at Jewish Child Care in New York City for a number of years. Always an advocate for those in need, Rosemary dedicated the last years of her working life to children in need. When she moved to Venice, Florida, she immediately registered in the 12th Circuit Judicial Court of Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program. Rosemary's biggest passion was her family. She was devoted to her children and found her biggest joy in being surrounded by her 18 grandchildren. Rosemary loved to travel, and she and Charles moved their family to a number of different places including Australia, Canada and London. They also traveled frequently for pleasure. Rosemary continued to travel after Charles' passing and loved to go on cruises with her friends. She relocated to the Sarasota area in the early nineties, eventually settling in Venice where four of her sisters had already relocated. Besides traveling, Rosemary also enjoyed playing Mahjong and Bridge with her friends. Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anna; her husband, Charles Kelly; her brother, Martin Leonard, and sisters Joan Croteau, Margie Cassidy, Dorothy Young and Ann Whiting; and her daughter Margaret (Michael) Breunig. She is survived by her sister's Patrica (Robert) Gregory, Kathleen (Tony) Chiarello; sons Joseph (Joan) Kelly, Charles (Theresa) Kelly, Peter (Janice) Kelly, William and Terence Kelly; daughters Anne (James) Kelly-Banks, Mary (Clare) Kelly, and Susan Kelly. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren: Charles, Ian, Sean and Liam Kelly Amanda and Camilla Cattaneo, Erin, Megan McGrath (Kevin), Ailyn and Caroline Kelly, Ryan and Dylan Banks, Kate Davey, Nicholas, Noah and Emily Kelly, and Victoria and Bridget Breunig. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Easter Seals, an amazing organization that provided a good deal of assistance to Rosemary's first grandchild at http://www.easterseals.com/ways-to-give/ Private Condolences may be left or Guestbook signing can be done at http://www.ewingfuneralhome.com
