Samuel Henry Herron, III

Samuel Henry Herron, III passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Sarasota, Florida. Sam was born on February 4, 1955 in New Haven, Connecticut and grew up in Venice, Florida after moving with his family as an infant. He graduated from Venice High School and attended Manatee Community College. In his youth, Sam loved banging on his drum set and played percussion in the junior high and high school bands. Sam enjoyed being around people, and was always willing to chip in and help others. He found fun and developed friendships through scuba diving, fishing, and a variety of other activities. Sam later developed a love of photography and could often be found at horse shows in which his younger sisters, Suzy and Nancy, participated, photographing the competitors. Sam was social, easy-going, and very comfortable to be around. He loved being the “tickle monster” to his little sisters and later his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed many summers at the beach, “Wingy”, where he would spend fun active days with his cousins. Sam worked in real estate with his father, Sam Herron, Jr. He was a dedicated Jaycee and one of the founding members of the Venice Chapter. He worked tirelessly with the organization for many years. The strong friendships he made there lasted throughout his life. Sam is predeceased by his parents, Samuel Henry and Doris Daley Herron, his sister Candy Borreson, and brother-in-law Douglas Grissinger. He is survived by his sisters Susan Grissinger and Nancy Wegner (Erik), his nieces Skye, Eve, and Hannah Grissinger and his nephews Thomas Grissinger and Freeland and Ford Wegner. Sam will be deeply missed and remembered in love and fondness by all who knew him. Visitation will be at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 140 E. Venice Avenue in Venice on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Monday, February 28, at Epiphany Cathedral, 350 Tampa Avenue West in Venice. Interment will follow immediately at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Road in Englewood.
