Thomas Patrick McDermott

Thomas Patrick McDermott, 82, passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side November 30, 2021, in Sarasota Florida. He was born September 6, 1939 in Muskegon Michigan to Grace and Harvey McDermott. Thomas lived most of his life in Grand Rapids Michigan, he received his bachelors degree from Aquinas College, and his masters degree from the University of Michigan. He taught special education, adult education, and drivers Education. He was a national ski patrol member with his wife. Thomas was an avid lover of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Michigan. He enjoyed boating snowmobiling, golfing, and skiing. He relocated to Sarasota in 2007. Thomas cared deeply for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Camille; his three children, son William and his wife Jennifer, son Thomas Bernard and wife Stella Zervos, daughter Michelle and husband Jeff Rencher. Grandchildren, Morgan and Merin McDermott, Natalie and Kamila Rencher. His three siblings, William (Denise) McDermott, Jane (Stan Mills), Linda (Mike Fitzpatrick) nieces and nephews, Stephen and Mark Mills, Jennifer Elenbaas, Cristin Jackson, Julie and Collen Fitzpatrick. To honor Thomas's memory, a celebration of life will be held January 7, at 9:30am at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, Fl. 34231.
