Alan Edwin Perry

On February 18th, 2024, Alan Edwin Perry peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and accomplishment. Born on February 18th, 1939, he graced us with his presence for 85 remarkable years. Reunited in heaven with his beloved parents Marie and Jack Perry, and his cherished sisters Joan and Shirley, Alan leaves behind a devoted wife of 62 years, Beryl Perry, his son Guy Perry, and his daughter Erica Perry Briody. He also leaves behind a precious legacy in his four beautiful and accomplished grandchildren: Jack, Ashley, Genevieve, and Emma. Alan's academic prowess was matched only by his professional success. As a chartered Engineer holding a master’s degree and a double Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Mechanical Engineering, he exemplified excellence in his field. A proud U.S. citizen originally from the United Kingdom, Alan enjoyed a distinguished career as Head of Sales and Marketing for the Petroleum Division of Caterpillar Tractors. His work took him to all corners of the globe, with roles spanning Europe, Africa, Canada, and the U.S., totaling over 65 countries visited during his illustrious tenure. A devoted family man, Alan's wanderlust was shared by his loved ones, as they traversed the globe together, creating cherished memories from Geneva, Switzerland to Johannesburg, South Africa, from London, England to Houston, Texas, and Peoria, Illinois. Beyond his professional achievements and worldly adventures, Alan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid sailor and accomplished runner, he conquered over five marathons, including the prestigious London marathon. A notable moment in his life was singing for King George VI in 1950, reflecting the unique and extraordinary nature of his journey. Yet, amidst his pursuits, Alan's heart always remained closest to his family, where he found solace in their company and comfort in the ritual of sharing regular cups of tea. Alan Edwin Perry will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his unwavering integrity, honor, and inspiration. Though he may be physically absent, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. Alan will be deeply missed but his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00am, at Siesta Key Chapel, 4615 Gleason Avenue, Siesta Key, FL 34242.
