John T. Haywood, III

JOHN T. HAYWOOD III, Sarasota, Florida, age 58, born January 12, 1958 died unexpectedly February 5, 2016. Graduated from Mount Morris Central School in 1976; from the University of Kentucky with BS degree in 1981 and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau national fraternity. He had an early career in harness racing, national food service management and most recently was Director of Volunteers at the Sarasota Woman's Exchange, a non-profit organization for the Arts in Sarasota, Fl. John had lived in several places including Mt. Morris, NY , Foxborough, MA, Orlando, FL, Dallas, TX, Memphis, TN and most recently called Sarasota home. John and his partner Ron loved to travel. He was fond of river boat and cruise ship travel visiting Europe several times as well as many locations in the United States. He enjoyed Harness and Thoroughbred racing and the beauty of horses. John found the Arts scene very enjoyable attending theatre, musicals and many types of concert venues wherever he lived. Sampling various restaurants locally and when traveling was a great past time and he like to visit his local favorites frequently. Whenever there was a yard sale, estate sale or juried craft or jewelry show John would suggest stopping or attending. He was predeceased by his mother, Anna, in 1999, father ,John "Jack," in 2013 and his sister, Jackie in 2012. He is survived by his life partner of 15 years and best friend Ron Bastek of Sarasota, FL; sister Anne Marie Regatuso of Dansville, NY; nieces Amber Regatuso (Scott Clune), Melissa Bennett (C.J.) and Ami Pasquarella; nephews Dana J. Regatuso Jr. (Jennifer) and Michael T. Pasquarella (Stephanie); three great-nephews and three great- nieces. Aunt Rose J. Valentino: several cousins, many dear and wonderful friends and beloved four-legged family members, Sara and Ginger. His smile, love of life, kind and generous spirit, dedication to family and friends, and his high work ethic will be greatly missed. He was a rare gem and delight in this too often self-focused world. Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Assoc., Planned Parenthood, and The Woman's Exchange of Sarasota (Non-Profit). There will be a Celebration of John's Life on March 12, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota, FL. A reception for John will be held in Mt. Morris, NY at a later date.
