Lois Ann Turk

Lois Ann Turk, age 88, passed away peacefully at Windsor Reflections Memory Care of Lakewood Ranch, FL after a long battle with dementia. Lois was born in Joliet, IL to the late Mary and John Rezick. She attended St. Francis Academy (Class of 1952) and Joliet Junior College. She was a flight attendant for American Airlines before she was married. She also worked in the office at Turk Furniture for many years. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and the Visitation and Aid Society of Joliet. Lois enjoyed traveling, golf, winters in Florida, babysitting for her grandchildren, reading, and cooking. She treasured her relationships with many lifelong friends including Door County golf buddies and Oakwood Estates neighbors. She was a fantastic cook who loved entertaining friends and family. Planning a menu was a labor of love as she remembered everyone’s favorite foods and allergies and spent hours searching out unique recipes and ingredients. Even the simplest dish like scrambled eggs would be long remembered for the care and love she put into it. Lois is survived by the love of her life, Joe Turk. They were married for 64 years and are an example to all of us of an enduring love story. His unwavering care-giving these last few years was heroic. Her children Gail (Harry) Franklin of Englewood, FL, Kathy (Steve) Neilson of Andover, MN, Joe Jr. (Joyce) of Holland, MI, and Cari (Mike) Minik of Lakewood Ranch, FL. Her eight grandchildren: Robert (Macie) and Elizabeth Franklin, Brian (Samantha) Neilson, Jaclyn and David Turk, and Joe, Tom and Dan Minik; two great-grandchildren Monroe and Charley Franklin and baby girl Neilson due in March. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Suzanne (the late Robert) Wright and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded by her parents John and Mary (Petak) Rezick and sister Joan Gray Corson. The family would like to thank Morita and Tessy of Perfect Solutions for Seniors; the staff at Windsor Reflections, especially Jessica, Kevin, Dale, and Monica; and the staff at Tidewell Hospice for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lois’ name may be made to Joliet Catholic Academy in Joliet, IL, Tidewell Hospice, or a charity of your choice. A private service will be held at Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, FL. A memorial service will be held in Joliet at a later date.
