May M. Forberg

May M. Forberg, age 103, of Venice died April 16, 2016. Ella M. Hunt Forberg and Albert Forberg welcomed May into the world on April 4, 1913 in Harrisburg, PA and came to Venice in 1987 from Birmingham, MI. May was Executive Secretary to the President of American Savings and Loan for 31 years. May was a member of The Waterford Golf and Country Club, the Venice Yacht Club and of Epiphany Cathedral. May attended Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, MA. May had a passion for life and lived her life to the fullest. May was an avid golfer even playing a par three course last year at 102 although she claimed a par 3 wasn't really playing golf. May did the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K last year raising money for the American Cancer Society when her cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer. May loved socializing and enjoyed going to movies, plays with friends and then finishing her day off at Rosebud's, her favorite restaurant or the Venice Yacht Club. On a Saturday during football season you would find May in front of the TV watching her one and only college team Notre Dame. "Go Irish " was her chant. May had a smile that would light up a room. May loved to travel, in her early years she traveled to many foreign countries. She traveled through much of the USA by train & car and she loved to cruise. Her last cruise was in December. Up until the end of February May walked a mile every other day. She never lost her independence or her ability to tell us stories of back in the day and she prided herself with the fact that she never wore a pair of jeans as she felt they were totally unacceptable. A funeral mass will be offered for May on Tuesday, April 26th at Epiphany Cathedral at 10 AM. May's ashes will be interred following the ceremony at Epiphany Memorial Garden along side her brother Albert. May's legacy will continue, with the many family members she leaves behind and many devoted friends, who will miss her familiar saying "take care of yourself dear heart." May left this world as she lived, with grace and dignity. Missed by many, loved by more. We hope to see her again in Heaven God willing.
