Terrence Michael Kelly

Terrence Michael Kelly, a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Venice, FL, on December 3, 2024, at the age of 52. After bravely battling numerous debilitating health challenges over the years, Terry's courage and resilience remained unwavering. Born on February 12, 1972, in Somerset, New Jersey, Terry made Venice his home for the past 20 years, relocating from Tampa in 2004 to join Books-A-Million. Terry's life was marked by his love of travel and his diverse experiences. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Shrewsbury, NJ, and then to Pymble, Australia, for two years. The family's journey continued with a five-year stay in Oakville, Ontario, followed by time in Chappaqua, New York; London, England; Miami, Florida; Battery Park City, New York; and Lido Beach, Long Island. Terry attended the University of Memphis before moving to Tampa in 1996, where he worked as a travel agent. During his nine years in Tampa, Terry used his vacation time to explore Europe, navigating the world of hostels long before the days of Airbnb. An avid sports fan, Terry passionately followed teams such as Watford (EPL), the Rangers, the Jets, the Mets, and his beloved Memphis college teams. His love for sports extended beyond watching, as he actively participated in numerous fantasy leagues, maintaining close friendships across the country and Canada. Before his health challenges, Terry played regular pick-up basketball games while living in New York City and served as an offensive lineman for the renowned Christopher Columbus High School football team in Miami. Terry found great comfort in his weekly Bible study group, where he experienced a deep sense of connection and companionship. He is survived by his sisters, Anne Kelly Banks, Mary Kelly, and Susan Kelly, his brothers, Joseph Kelly, Chuck Kelly, Peter Kelly, and Bill Kelly, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11:00am, at Epiphany Cathedral, 310 Sarasota Street, Venice, FL 34285. Terry fought the good fight for many years, much longer than expected. Despite his medical setbacks and pain, he rarely complained. Everyone who interacted with Terry, whether it be family, friends, nurses, doctors or aides offer the same thought regarding him and his spirit: "Terry always made me laugh". He will be deeply missed by those still here but has now been reunited with his father, Charles Kelly, mother Rosemay Kelly, and sister Peggy Breunig.
